Larry George Hollinger

Larry George Hollinger, 79, of Stone Ridge Retirement Community in Myerstown, formerly of Hershey, entered Heaven on November 24, 2021. He was born January 1, 1942 in Hershey, the son of the late Rufus and Anna (Floyd) Hollinger. His grandson, Matthew Hollinger, preceded him in death. Larry was a member of Spring Creek Church of the Brethren. Larry graduated from Hershey High School in 1959 and served in the Air Force during the Vietnam War Era. He was the Data Processing (IT) Manager for both the Milton Hershey School and for Operating Engineers in San Francisco, CA. He concluded his career in the IT Department for Rite Aid Corporation. Additionally, he worked many years as a Stagehand and Dresser for Hershey Entertainment shows and sporting events. He was a respected PIAA umpire who officiated baseball, football and basketball games. He enjoyed world traveling, having visited all 7 continents and all 50 states and over 100 countries. Larry is survived by his wife, Karen (Olt) Hollinger; a daughter, Sharon (Randy) Martin; a son, Michael Hollinger, 2 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, December 2, 2021, at 2PM, in the Hoover Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 88 Lucy Ave., Hershey. The family will begin receiving guests at 1PM. Interment with military honors will be in the Spring Creek Church Cemetery in Hershey, following the service.
